COACHES CODE OF CONDUCT
The responsibilities of all Coaches are as follows:
1. To strive to make every football/cheer activity serve as a good training ground for life, and a basis for good mental and physical health
2. Emphasize that the outcome of the game is a result of TEAM WORK
3. I will not allow any one to criticize players in front of spectators, but reserve constructive criticism for private, or in the presence of the teams if others might benefit.
4. Emphasize that athletes strive to be good students
5. I will not criticize an opposing team, its’ players, coaches or fans by word of mouth or by gestures.
6. Accept the decisions of the game officials on the field as being fair and called to the best ability of said official
7. I will not be physically or emotionally abusive to any players, other coach, official, parent, spectator, Board member or any other participants in the DVYFC.
8. Responsible for the conduct of their players and other coaches on the practice field, game days and at all post-game functions. It should be reasonable to expect that all players be aware of the rules of conduct on the practice field and game days. Examples of misconduct are as follows:
a) Use of profanity
b) Failure to respect others and the property of others
c) Fighting with team members
d) Abuse of equipment and/or facilities
9. Remove from a game or practice any player when even slightly in doubt about his/her health, whether or not as a result of an injury, until a competent medical person is available to make that determination. In cases of injury or suspected (game or practice) the designated paramedic will have complete jurisdiction over the decision of whether a player is able to continue
10. Refrain from abusive and profane language at all practices and games
11. I will not allow any unsportsmanlike conduct from players, cheerleaders or coaches.
12. I will not permit an ineligible player to participate in a game.

13. I will not receive any payment for services as a coach of this organization.
14. Refrain from using drugs, alcohol or tobacco at practice and games.
15. Ensure that all DVC rules and regulations are followed
16. Be supportive of all coaching members and the Board of Directors
In addition to the above items, the Head Coach of each division has the following additional responsibilities. All assistant coaches need to understand these items in the event the Head Coach is unavailable.
1. Any and all team business to include any and all communication with parents, players, assistant
coaches and the Board of Directors.
2. Remain (or designate a representative) at all practices and post-game functions until all squad
members, who are not accompanied by a parent or guardian have been picked up.
3. Keep a record of attendance at all practices-this is mandatory to substantiate any disciplinary
action due to absences.
4. Use reasonable judgment as to players playing time during the game if absences occur during the
practice week. The coach must notify the Athletic Director in writing if a player will be held out of
the game for disciplinary reasons.
5. Notify all squad members if a practice is cancelled
6. Ensure all coaches have DVYFC badges at all games and practices
7. Designate a coach to be responsible to supervise players in the locker room before and after the
game.
8. Attend all Napa Saints regular Board meetings (or designate an assistant coach) to be held the
Thursday after the 2nd Tuesday of each month or as scheduled by the Board.
I have read the coaches code of conduct and will comply with all the rules listed. I am also aware that if I do not comply with the Code of Conduct I can be immediately suspended and the Napa Saints may be fined by the Diablo Valley Youth Football Executive Board of Directors
