I hereby pledge to live up to my certification as a NYSCA Coach by following the NYSCA Coaches� Code of Ethics:

I will place the emotional and physical well being of my players ahead of a personal desire to win.

I will treat each player as an individual, remembering the large range of emotional and physical development for the same age group.

I will do my best to provide a safe playing situation for my players.

I will promise to review and practice basic first aid principles needed to treat injuries of my players.

I will do my best to organize practices that are fun and challenging for all my players.

I will lead by example in demonstrating fair play and sportsmanship to all my players.

I will provide a sports environment for my team that is free of drugs, tobacco, and alcohol, and I will refrain from their use at all youth sports events.

I will be knowledgeable in the rules of each sport that I coach, and I will teach these rules to my players.

I will use those coaching techniques appropriate for all of the skills that I teach.

I will remember that I am a youth sports coach, and that the game is for children and not adults.

ALL Coaches must be NAYS certified:
- Certification classes for new coaches (or returning coaches who did not coach last year) are arranged by the conference (usually a three hour class at a local community facility). Check the calendar for scheduled dates.
- Returning coaches (from last year) need to renew their NAYS membership. This can be done on-line at http://www.nays.org
- The clinic and membership costs will be covered by Napa Saints. Please submit your expense form to the Treasurer.

ALL Coaches must be First Aid and CPR certified
- Classes will be scheduled by Napa Saints prior to the start of the season
- Costs will be covered by Napa Saints

ALL Coaches need to complete a Live Scan Fingerprint Background Check.
Napa Saints will cover the cost for the Live Scan process held at its CPR/First Aid class
Any applicant who misses this opportunity will be solely responsible for obtaining and paying for their
individual Live Scan Fingerprint Background Check (approximately $50)

ALL Coaches must be certified by the DVYFC to participate in the 2006 season
ALL Coaches will be expected to personally attend a certification clinic and provide the following:
- A photocopy of their NAYS membership card
- A photocopy of their CPR and First Aid cards
- Their background check questionnaire
- Live Scan Fingerprint Background Certificate
- A passport sized ID photo (head and shoulders)

Only when all of the above have been provided will a coach be certified by the DVYFC

to participate in practices and games.

There are no exceptions!
